CONSORTIUM MEETING in Rapperswil, Switzerland
June 2026 (M48)
On 18 June 2026, partners of the REVEAL project met at OST – Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences in Rapperswil, Switzerland, for a productive consortium meeting followed by a stakeholder workshop that attracted strong interest from both industry and research communities.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the latest developments in REVEAL’s innovative approach to long-term renewable energy storage using aluminium as an energy carrier. Significant technical advancements were presented and discussed, highlighting the continued progress towards demonstrating the feasibility and scalability of REVEAL technologies.
Project coordination activities also featured prominently on the agenda. Partners received updates on financial reporting requirements, administrative procedures, and upcoming deadlines, ensuring smooth project management as REVEAL progresses through its final stages. Discussions also focused on preparing the upcoming periodic technical report, including the status of ongoing activities and required updates from all work packages.
Partners also began preparations for the project’s third periodic review meeting and discussed pathways for ensuring long-term impact beyond the project’s lifetime. Encouragingly, new project proposals are already being developed to further scale up REVEAL technologies and accelerate their journey towards commercial implementation.
The consortium would like to thank OST for hosting both the meeting and workshop and all participants who contributed to the fruitful discussions throughout the day.
The consortium reviewed communication and dissemination achievements from recent months, including participation in international events, stakeholder engagement activities, and preparations for the project’s final event and two dedicated dissemination workshops. Several scientific posters and an amazing video from our coordinator, IceTec, have been published. Don’t forget to check out the new video, where Daniel explains the aluminium storage cycle.
A key highlight of the day was the stakeholder workshop hosted by OST. The Aluminium energy storage for winter demand workshop attracted 90 online participants and more than 20 on-site, in addition to the 14 consortium members participating in the project meeting. The workshop provided a platform to present REVEAL’s progress, discuss future opportunities for aluminium-based energy storage, and engage with stakeholders across the energy sector.
