REVEAL Workshop in Rapperswil

On 18 June 2026, REVEAL will host its final dedicated workshop at the OST – Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland, bringing together researchers, industry experts, and stakeholders to reflect on four years of our work on aluminium-based energy storage systems.

This event represents a unique opportunity to discover how REVEAL’s vision of using aluminium as a carbon-free, transportable energy carrier has evolved from concept to validated technological solutions.

If you missed the January workshop in Iceland, this is a great chance to catch up on the project’s latest developments, technological progress, sustainability assessments, and future implementation pathways.

The workshop agenda covers the complete REVEAL energy cycle and highlights some of the project’s most important achievements and insights. Topics include:

  • Practical implementation of the REVEAL aluminium energy storage cycle

  • Global developments in carbon-free aluminium production

  • Demonstration and future development of the Alu-to-Energy prototype

  • Assessment of the CO₂ savings potential of the REVEAL system

The programme will feature presentations from leading REVEAL experts and partners, including:

The event will conclude with networking and informal discussions, providing participants with an opportunity to exchange ideas directly with the consortium and explore the future potential of aluminium-based energy storage technologies.

Why This Workshop Matters?

Over the last four years, REVEAL has explored how aluminium can become a long-duration, high-density, and transportable renewable energy carrier, capable of supporting winter heat and electricity demand while reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

As the project enters its final phase, this workshop serves not only as a dissemination event, but also as an important moment to:

  • Share validated results with the wider community

  • Reflect on lessons learned

  • Discuss scalability and future applications

  • Strengthen connections between research, industry, and policymakers

Participation is open to all interested stakeholders, so we look forward to welcoming you to Rapperswil-Jona for this important milestone in the REVEAL journey.
