Innovation in Energy Transition

We are thrilled to share the recent news about our partner, Rauan Meirbekova, a dedicated research scientist at IceTec. Rauan presented a groundbreaking study on aluminium's energy storage process at the company where her career began in Iceland.

On September 25, Verkís Consulting Engineers hosted a hybrid meeting at their headquarters. The focal point of this gathering was the exploration of "Innovation in Energy Transition: New Energy Carriers."

This event featured two distinguished professors who shared their expertise on crucial topics related to the energy transition:

Keena Trowell from McMaster University in Canada delved into the fascinating realm of metal fuels and the fundamental principles underlying metal-water reactions, which are harnessed to produce hydrogen—a promising energy carrier. Watch the introduction of Professor Keena Trowell here.

Christiaan Richter from the University of Iceland illuminated the audience on the role of aluminium in a circular economy. He showcased its journey from waste material to a valuable source of hydrogen energy and alumina, highlighting the potential of recycling and sustainability.

We extend our gratitude to Rauan for her dedication to advancing our REVEAL project and for being a driving force in the world of energy innovation. We also extend our sincere thanks to Verkís Consulting Engineers for hosting this event and to all participants who joined the conversation.
